Keira Christina Knightley was born on March 26, 1985, in London, England and raised by actor Will Knightley and playwright Sharman Macdonald in a world of entertainment.
By the age of three, Keira was demanding for an agent and eventually snatched one three years later. Keira landed her first acting gig when she was 7-years-old and was featured on multiple British television series before making her feature film debut in George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace (1999).
Three years later, Keira obtained her breakthrough lead role as the tomboy soccer player Jules in the film Bend It Like Beckham (2002). In 2003, Keira popped up on Hollywood’s radar with her performance in the dramatic comedy Love Actually, but officially made a name for herself when she starred alongside Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in the mega-blockbuster hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl as well as its sequels Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007).
Accustomed to more comedic roles, Keira transitioned into serious roles to show off her array of acting chops, including an appearance as Guinevere in King Arthur (2004) opposite Clive Owen, followed closely by a stunning performance in the film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (2005) for which she received an Academy Award nomination. She then starred as the lead character in the biopic The Duchess (2008) followed by more modern films.
In 2010, Keira migrated toward the world of sci-fi, embodying revolutionary roles in the drama fantasy Never Let Me Go with Andrew Garfield and the comedy Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) opposite Steve Carell. Also around this time, Keira dabbled in the familiar period genre with a starring role in the biopic A Dangerous Method (2011) with Michael Fassbender and the drama Anna Karenina (2012) opposite Jude Law.
Keira’s most recent projects include, the musical Can a Song Save Your Life? (2013), the action thriller Jackie Ryan (2013) alongside Chris Pine and Kevin Costner, the drama Laggies (2014) alongside Sam Rockwell, the drama The Imitation Game (2014), and the drama The Other Typist (2014).

After meeting at a photo shoot in New York in 2003, Keira and Jamie Dornan started dating, but broke up two years later, reportedly due to Jamie’s inability to cope with Keira’s success.

After dating for a year, Keira and musician James Righton announced their engagement to the world in 2012. They went on to tie the knot on May 4, 2013 in Mazan, Vaucluse (South of France).
