Katy Perry is learning that what she says can and will be used against her in the media.
Last week Katy announced that she's planning on staying celibate for all of 2009. "I've actually taken a vow of celibacy this year… no kissing anyone. Just my cat, Kitty Purry."
After getting a ton of press from the statement, she's now insisting that she was just joking and that she would rather die than be celibate.
She tells People.com, "I am not going to be celibate. That was a joke, and any fine journalist would have got that. Please, celibacy for the whole year? I'd rather die."
We're sure her new statement will go over well with fans. Some people (we're talking to you Katy!) should just learn to shut up and not make stupid comments to the press.
