A long long time ago, Rihanna and Katy Perry were really good friends. They exchanged fun, friendly tweets and had paired up seating arrangements at awards shows, and then one day it was gone.
Katy’s latest interview with Elle UK sheds some light on what might have happened to Rihanna and Katy’s once-perfect friendship and we think it has everything to do with RiRi’s annoyingly huge group of hanger-ons.
“I love [Rihanna] and every time I see her, I’m reminded of the light that she has, [but] there’s a lot of dark in this business. I know a lot of people out there with the most detrimental entourages – they are the root of their demise.”
We think this is Katy’s sly way of saying Rihanna has the potential to be awesome, but her entourage is bringing her down. Why else would Katy randomly start talking about a “dark demise” in the middle of talking about RiRi?
Katy then alluded to the fact that she used to try and “save” Rihanna, but just gave up.
“It’s really unfortunate but you can’t save these people,” she said, “My days of celebrity saving are over.”
