Uh oh, the Katy Perry infiltration has begun. When a pop artist starts acting, only bad can come from it. See: Britney Spears in “Crossroads,” Mariah Carey in “Glitter,” or Jennifer Lopez in “Gigli.”
But Katy Perry is starting small, she’s booked her first role on the Fox sitcom “Raising Hope.”
Katy will play a character named Rikki, a prison attendant who claims to be friends with the character Sabrina. Talk about casting against type. Since when are prison attendants hot chicks with blue hair?
Anyways, Shannon Woodward who plays Sabrina is best friends with Katy Perry and asked the executive producer Greg Garcia if he would audition Katy Perry for any role.
Greg Garcia said Katy gave a great audition but he says he had no idea she was famous.
“She came in and did a terrific job. She was hilarious,” Garcia says of Katy, “And now people are telling me that Katy is also a singer. I sincerely hope that her appearance on the show helps her get her singing career off the ground. It’s a tough business.”
I think he’s joking.
Katy says her decision to do the show was a pretty easy choice.
Katy explains: “Shannon Woodward is my best friend. A couple weeks ago, I was home, just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something ‘fun’ for a change and try out a guest role on her TV show. I thought, ‘Sure, I have nothing else to do and I like chillin’ with my best friend.”
So much in this quote is suspect. For starters, “toasting up a frozen chicken fillet?” Like Katy Perry expects us to believe that she a) cooks her own food and b) eats frozen food. C’mon Katy, frozen sh-t is for us regulars, was there not an organic free-range chicken available at the Whole Foods by your house/mansion?
Secondly, her friend told her to do something “fun” for a change? Katy has blue hair! Katy named her cat Kitty Purry! Katy giggles like an anime character! Katy’s life is FUN, all the time, always!
Katy says she has nothing else to do? Uh, don’t you have another fragrance to design? Are we going to hear a follow-up to “Teenage Dreams?” Are you going to film the video for “Part of Me?” Katy Perry has plenty to do. Liar.
Anyways, her episode airs on March 6, 2012. Set your TiVo’s now!
