Katy Perry has cancelled what was to be her first public appearance since her split from Russell Brand--the ‘People’s Choice Awards’. Sad news, but if you’re really dying to see Katy, just watch MTV, because I swear to god, they show her Proactive commercial every thirty seconds.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards,” Katy Tweeted on Monday. “I want to thank you all for voting for me. Fingers crossed!”
Katy’s been using her Twitter page to address some of the gossip surrounding her Dec. 30 split from Brand.
“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, “close sources” or my family.”
Err….what about Twitter? Does Twitter speak for you? Because you said no one, nothing, but then here you are Tweeting and—aaaargh this is a mind f-ck!
“I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world,” Katy wrote the same day. “You guys have made my heart happy again.”
When announcing their split, citing “irreconcilable differences,” Brand said, “I’ll always adore [Katy] and I know we’ll remain friends.”
I know we’ll never stop following each other on Twitter. And yes, both Katy and Russell still follow each other on Twitter. In case you were wondering.
On Wednesday, however, moving vans were spotted outside of Katy and Russell’s $6.5 million Los Angeles home. According to a source, Perry was blindsided when Brand announced that he was filing for divorce. However, the source also added that “there were so many times when he wasn’t there.”
