Katy Perry Addresses Divorce In New Movie

Katy Perry’s new concert film “Part Of Me” opens in theaters on July 5, 2012. The film is probably chock-full of clips of the songstress being cartoony, performing in a cupcake bra, hugging fans, the usual. But more importantly, she opens up about her divorce from Russell Brand and you see Katy Perry, GASP, crying!

Rarely do you see a celebrity in their natural habitat. Pardon that weird National Geographic reference, but it’s not everyday you see a famous person get all teary eyed and it’s not for a role.

Katy made an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno to talk about the movie.

“It wasn’t always exciting to watch those unflattering scenes when I’m crying or having a moment,” says Katy, “But people can hopefully relate to me seeing me at my lowest point and now I’m at my highest point.”

First of all, did you watch the clip? What’s happening with Katy’s voice, it’s like she’s purposefully trying to sound like Minnie Mouse? Anyways, she addresses her divorce without actually saying the word.

“Just because you’re in the spotlight doesn’t mean you get to dodge the curveballs, they are actually bigger,” says the songstress with a sly smile.

Here’s where she kept referring to her crumbling relationship by calling the break-up, “it.”

“If you saw the movie and it [my divorce] was completely avoided, you would come out of the theater and be like ‘that’s strange, I knew something else happened at that time in her life last year.’”

“I wanted to handle it delicately with the most integrity that I could possible have and show people that I’m going through the same situations that most of America or half of America goes thru. Somehow I landed on my feet and you don’t have to lay down and die even if you feel like you want to.”

But most of all, Katy wants you to leave the film knowing how hard she works for her fame.

“I really wanted to show people how much hard work it takes. The ins and outs. You don’t have to be born into a situation, you don’t have to come from something or posses something or look flawless…You can just be you and have a dream and plant the seed and water the root,” says the popstar.
