Katy Perry Accidently Given Rihanna's Award

Poor Katy Perry, 2009 hasn't been a good year for her. She started the year off with a breakup, and yesterday she was left red-faced when she was wrongly announced the winner of Best International Song award at the NRJ Music Awards.

The NRJ awards took place in Cannes, France on Saturday night. Perry took the stage and accepted her award from Nicole Scherzinger thanking the audience and telling them it was her first award.

90 minutes later the error was revealed. The Best International Song award was actually supposed to go to Rihanna. Ouch!

The ceremony's French host, Nikos Alliagas explained, "We are terribly sorry, but we made a mistake. It wasn't Katy Perry who was supposed to pick up the Best International Song, but Rihanna with Disturbia.

"We hope Rihanna and Katy Perry won't be too upset and we apologize for all the fans who voted for them. The wrong name was put in the envelope. We're really terribly sorry. Katy Perry will have to give her (award) to Rihanna."

How embarrassing is that? Katy must have felt like crap when they announced that to the audience. Do you think Rihanna should have won the Best International Song or should it have gone to someone else?

I think they are both talented in there own ways, and that does suck, but I think she can just make another hit song out of it.
