Tom Cruise Supports Katie's Broadway Debut

September 19, 2008

After all the practicing Katie Holmes finally made her Broadway debut last night. Katie has been practicing for months and her time had come to shine last night in the revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons.

Her husband was front and center to support his wife and couldn’t be more proud. "I'm so proud of her," Tom said before the show. "This means so much to her."

After the show, Holmes and co-stars got a standing ovation by audience members, which included Dustin Hoffman.

All did not go so smoothly though. Outside the theater, there were over 20 Anti-Scientology protestors with signs reading “Free Katie” and "How many more must die?"

We are not boycotting Katie, we are not boycotting the play - we are protesting Scientology. It is evil. Scientology kills people. It follows you home at night. It is perverted," a protestor said.

Well, it’s a good thing all that practicing paid off! The show officially opens on October 16.

not only did he not support her, he was arrogant, rude, pissed off theatre goers and TALKED through his wifes entire performance "Like I said in the previous thread, I was at the preview last night and I was pissed the way Tom entered. He waited till everybody was in their seats and the lights were about to go down and then he entered like the king! He was a total jerk about it. He made it seem like it was all about him. The whole play had to be delayed while he shook hands with his friends. On top of that, I sat 2 rows behind him and he kept talking to a woman who was sitting next to him who was obviously his friend cause he kissed her before he sat down. It was soooooo rude! He was disrespectful to Katie and the rest of the cast. I wasn’t crazy about him before but now I really hate him. I hope he doesnt go to anymore shows (fat chance). He didn’t have to watch from backstage. He could have taken his seat earlier (like 15-20 mins before curtain) this way there would be time to say hello to his friends and not disrupt the start of the play. He was plain rude. Like it was all about him. I honestly don’t know what such a sweet girl as Katie is doing with him! I was pissed and so were other people in my row. People were rolling their eyes and laughing!! Oh yea, someone asked if Suri or Tom’s kids were there. No they weren’t. I looked around cause I wanted to see gorgeous Suri in person, but no luck. Besides, a Broadway play is not the right place for a baby anyway. As far as his kids, no luck there either. Tom just sat with friends who he kissed when he got into the theater. Some were in the same row as him and some were in front of him. Also Dustin Hoffman was at the end of my row, 2 rows back from Tom. Katie did really well. I think Tom should stay home from now on tho. Those protesters were there because of him not Katie!!"
