The Mission Impossible star has a knack for attracting drama lately.
Tom Cruise’s newest chapter of shame is his reported A-lister treatment within the Church of Scientology. According to a report, the actor is being allowed special privileges because of who he is and his ranking.
RadarOnline.com reports the scandal, citing former president of the celebrity center, Nancy Many, as its source.
"They have already bent the rules for Tom," said Many, ‘Tom was any other Scientologist, including lesser celebrities, he would not be allowed to continue seeing and maintaining communication with Katie or Suri, because they are no longer in Scientology."
Many continued, adding that regular members of the Church are upset with the special treatment Tom has been getting.
"When every other person that I have known of leaves Scientology, which Katie did without speaking of it directly, they are instantly shunned," explained Many. "By rejoining a Catholic Church right afterwards, she made a very public statement of rejection."
Normal procedure, according to the report, is to more or less cut off family members - children, parents, friends, and acquaintances from their lives.
"I understand that Tom was always busy, busy, busy, before the divorce but Katie would fly Suri to him," added Many, claiming that the actor's business could be the reason behind abandoning tradition temporarily.
While Cruise has remained in contact with both Katie and Suri, including a summer trip to Disney World, he has been more absent from his daughter’s life than usual lately due to his commitment to his current film project Days of Thunder.
