Well that didn’t take long… Katie’s already packing her bags.
After Friday’s ball-busting news that Katie Holmes had called it quits with Tom Cruise, she has already initiated the move out process. The 33-year-old actress and mom was spotted with bags in hand, moving out of one NYC apartment and into another.
On June 28th, Holmes was seen with her daughter Suri, who was helping with the moving process. The duo lugged bags out of the apartment that Cruise and Homes shared and into the new bachelorette pad.
Rumor has it that they are relocating to the historic Chelsea Mercantile building on 7th Ave. in Midtown. The building is circa 1906 and was renovated in 2000.
Shortened The Mercantile, the building boasts a private parking garage and health club, as well as a laundry and dry cleaning service. Each unit comes with high ceilings (11’ – 14’), limestone baths, stainless steel kitchens, oak flooring.
Overall, the building has a total of 354 apartments in it.
People reports that Katie’s new place is a three bedroom apartment. She will be paying anywhere from $10,000 to $12,000 a month in rent.
Suri will be getting a sweet deal too, as the gymnastic studio where she takes classes is in the same building. That ought to come in handy when it comes time to playing favorites.
And we're not the only ones taking notice to Katie's new move. Photos have show two vehicles - a White Cadillac SUV and a black Mercedes - following the actress (see photos below). Along with the vehicles, three mysterious and professional looking men have been tailing Holmes.
TMZ reports that the surveillance is not the Church of Scientology as originally hypothesized. A lawyer for the Church confirmed the information. Instead, it is rumored that they could be private investigators for Cruise.
According to Us Weekly, Katie has been acting funny leading up to the divorce announcement. And by funny we mean happy.
"She's been miserable for a long time, but the last couple of weeks, she's been happy -- like she's been set free," a source told Us Weekly.
Meanwhile, Tom’s off in Iceland filming for a new sci-fi flick called Oblivion, a title that bares a coincidentally mocking tone to the current state of his personal life as of late. Cruise was last spotted in the passenger seat of his personal helicopter.
