It's a fact: Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have one of the best on screen chemistries in film history. They're so great together, their collaborations usually led to Oscar nominations. Well, for Kate at least.
The dynamic duo wooed audiences with their on screen romance in their 1997 blockbuster flick Titanic, and 12 years later they reunited with the same passion they once shared for the Sam Mendes drama, Revolutionary Road.
Hollyscoop caught up with Kate Winslet at the 2009 Oscar Luncheon celebrating her Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in The Reader, to find out if there's another Kate and Leo collaboration in the works.
“I think I can safely say no not yet. No we haven’t but, I would happily work with Leo again every year for the rest of my life. But you know it's very rare that a script like 'Titanic' and 'Revolutionary Road' comes along and everything feels like it fits. And you're very blessed to have the opportunity to work together twice like that. So I'm very grateful for it.”
What does Kate's husband Director Sam Mendes think of their undeniable chemistry? “It sounds corny but it’s like working with a brother and sister." We've never seen brothers and sisters make out like that!
He added, “They giggle the whole time, they have the same sense of humor and they have the same approach to work. They tease each other and they make each other. They laugh a lot and they’re very, very professional when they get in front of the camera."
“It didn’t seem as if there was a 10-year gap after they were in ‘Titanic’ because they’ve stayed friends all the time and lived through each other’s marriages and girlfriends and other movies.”
Wonder if Kate will thank Leo first before her own husband if she wins an Oscar The Reader? Hmm…something to think about!
