Kate Winslet and her husband director Sam Mendes have reportedly decided to split after six years of marriage.
A statement from law firm Schillings said: "Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely
amicable and is by mutual agreement.”
"Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their
children. They ask that the media respect their privacy at this time."
This is Kate Winslet’s second marriage—she was married to film assistant Jim Threapleton from 1998 to 2001. She had one child with him, nine-year old Mia. She also has six-year-old Joe with Mendes.
While we didn’t realize Kate and Sam were having major problems in their marriage, the Oscar-winning actress did tell the press she was going to lay low and spend time with her family after winning Best Actress for The Reader.
She said recently, "I was in hiding a little bit,
just doing family stuff and very little work.”
"To be honest, I felt so over-exposed this time last year with the Golden Globes and the Oscar. It was fantastic and everything, but I was sick of me, let alone what other people must have felt."
Unfortunately, things just didn’t work out between the two. We wish them both happiness.
