There's something about Kate Moss that makes people want to create art based on her. Pete Doherty has shown the world his creepy paintings of her, and now Kate is being turned into gold for a museum exhibit. Artist Marc Quinn has sculpted a gold statue of Kate for the British Museum worth $2.8 million. It's considered the largest gold statue built since the time of ancient Egypt, at 110 pounds. Hey wait! That's probably more than she weighs in real life.
Quinn says he chose Moss because she was the closest model to human perfection he could find. Please….we're gagging over here.
He says, "I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who is the ideal beauty of the moment. But even Kate Moss doesn't live up to the image."
Ok, he saved himself with that last statement. What are your thoughts on Kate as being the most perfect model of our time? Can you think of anyone else who fits the bill?
