On Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will celebrate their one-year anniversary but don’t expect the pomp and circumstance of last year’s Westminster Abbey ceremony that drew 2 billion viewers on TV and a million people on the streets of London.
The happy couple, who dated eight years before tying the royal knot, plan to celebrate in private at their rustic home in picturesque Anglesey, a remote island off the northwest coast of Wales. The locals allow them to live a relatively private life in the tranquil community. William is stationed there as a helicopter search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force.
But don't despair, William and Kate have many public appearances planned in June for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, an event held to mark 60 years of the Queen's reign. The Duke and Duchess will accompany the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in a carriage procession to kick off the four-day celebration.
Of course, the question on everyone's mind is when these two will be have a baby of their own. Royal biographer Andrew Morton told AFP a year ago: "If Kate is not pregnant in the next nine months, she'll be defying 200 years of royal tradition." Oops.
William, 29, is second in line to the throne. People Magazine reported that Kate, 30, doted on a baby at a recent party. Succession rules changed last year to allow any child the couple bear to be in line for the throne, including a girl. No matter what, with stylish Kate as mom, we know the royal child will join the world’s most fashionable!
For now, British monarchy fans on baby watch will just have to wait. That means you, Snoop Dogg!
