The stars already gave their two cents on the election this morning, via everyone’s favorite social media site, Twitter, but the royals on the other side of the pond had yet to give their political endorsement!
“The Duke and Duchess have sent a personal note of congratulations to Barack Obama on his US re-election,” a Palace source told Us Weekly.
The royal couple and the presidential couple are both friends, remember when they all met up in May of last year and stood around with their hands awkwardly crossed in front of themselves making small talk about world politics and Coldplay, probably, I don’t know.
Apparently the Royals are democrats, Queen Elizabeth is all about Obama. “Her Majesty is pleased with the election result,” says the Palace insider.
Michelle Obama hung out with the royals again in London ahead of the Olympic games and both Obamas have met Queen Elizabeth on a few occasions, with the palace source adding, “[The Queen] gets on well with Mr. Obama and his wife.”
I’m not surprised the royals endorsed Obama. Back in July, Mitt Romney criticized Great Britain’s lack of organization for the London Olympics.
“The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials -- that obviously is not something which is encouraging,” Romney previously stated.
