A few days ago, a couple Australian DJ’s decided to prank call the hospital where Kate Middleton was being treated for acute morning sickness and disguised their voices to sound like the Queen of England.
Sure, it’s all fun and games, until somebody gets hurt. No, I’m serious, the nurse who answered the prank call, who did in fact believe she was speaking to the Queen of England, gave out personal information about Kate’s health and probably got the third degree from hospital management about patient confidentiality. She has since sadly reportedly committed suicide.
The woman was found unconscious just yards away from the hospital at 9:30 am today, paramedics were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are treating the death as “unexplained” while one source told The Daily Mail that the woman had killed herself.
The radio DJ’s who pulled the prank thought their call was funny and tweeted out, “Forgot to mention, MORE on the #RoyalPrank after 7:30 tonight on the @Hot20Countdown.”
It’s unfortunate and devastating that a little radio prank call could go so horribly wrong.
I’m assuming that once the receptionist’s bosses heard she had given out patient information over the phone (which is a no-no in hospitals) they probably gave her a terrible reprimand, which might have been what led her to her sad end.
What would you do in her case? I’d be terrified to ignore the Queen of England if she called me too!
So far, none of the Royals have released a statement regarding the incident.
