Elton was really good friends with Princess Diana and remembers her struggles, and while he’s sure Diana would loved Kate, she thinks she’s in for a difficult life.
He said: "I hope everyone celebrates for them, whether they agree with the monarchy or not. It's about two people falling in love and getting into a situation, for her especially, where it's going to be the most difficult life. I mean, let's face it, we know what that kind of marriage entails, and the press never leave you alone, the courtiers ... I admire her for going through with it.
Um…hello…she’s going to be an actual princess. Sounds pretty awesome to me.
Back in January Elton talked to Hollyscoop about the royal wedding telling us, “They’re great kids. [Diana] would very proud of both sons.”
And he had kind wishes for William and Kate, saying, “I just hope they have the most wonderful day and life together. They seem so happy.”
And while Elton and I don’t see eye to eye on the whole Princess thing, he admits he’s just happy to be invited to the wedding.
"I've only met William and Harry twice … but I'm very glad to be invited because I think it's going to be a very joyous day and I think [Diana] would be very happy with his choice, [Kate] seems such a great girl and they seem so much in love."
Elton performed at the funeral of Princess Diana in Westminster Abbey in 1997 and he believes William’s choice to hold his wedding at the same venue is the most “joyous result”.
Make sure to check back with Hollyscoop in the wee hours of Friday morning for all things Royal. We have royal fever and there’s simply no cure for it.
