Maksim and Karina Break Up!

This is one break-up we didn’t see coming! Dancing With the Stars couple Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have decided to split up!

The pair have been dating for the last year, and had even gotten engaged in December. But Smirnoff’s rep confirmed the break-up to Hollyscoop saying, "Yes, I can confirm that Karina is newly single."

Chmerkovskiy's rep didn't immediately comment. This is so sad! They seemed like such a happy couple! And just last month, they’d told People they were inseparable!

This may have had something to do with both of their crazy schedules. It’s just hard to make any relationship work when you’re a busy Hollywood celebrity!

UPDATE: Radaronline is reporting that Maksim is the one who pulled the plug on the relationship.

Apparently the relationship began unraveling in recent weeks because Maksim believed that Karina was simply too high maintenance.

"He felt that her constant demands were a sign that she lacked independence....He simply couldn't take it anymore," a source close to the couple told Radar.

It does not surprise me at all! I never saw them walking down the aisle to take their matrimonial vows. She is very materialistic; go back to some of her comments on what she was demanding regarding her upcoming nuptials. Only the best of everything; so I believe this could be a problem for any man to accept permanently. Besides, he is a lady's man and I could not see him with only one woman at this stage of his life. Too much sex appeal and I guess she couldn't hold him forever.
