It’s like Hollywood has a collective case of cold feet. First Jessica Simpson postpones her wedding, then Kristin Cavallari postpones and cancels hers. Now Karina Smirnoff is the next bride-to-be or not-to-be.
Going on almost a year after announcing her engagement to baseball player Brad Penny, a source close to the couple says, “the wedding has been postponed. They are still together, but have conflicting schedules,” the source says.
In June, Karina said that she and Penny were getting married this January in Cozumel, Mexico. Another source adds “it’s nothing exciting. They’re just both really busy.”
I’m no love expert or nothin’, but if you’re too busy to actually have the wedding, that doesn’t sound too good for the marriage. Luckily though, the two are already looking at possible new dates.
Smirnoff and Penny went public with their romance in 2009, not long after Smirnoff called it quits with her Dancing with the Stars costar, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
In November 2010, Karina showed off her gorgeous, 4.5 carat princess cut diamond ring. It has a price tag of $95,000. That’s roughly what my college education cost. Karina Smirnoff is basically wearing a four-year diploma on her hand.
Shortly after announcing the engagement, Smirnoff said: “I believe a wedding is a celebration of a future together.” It's good that she believes that, because that’s actually exactly what a wedding is.
"It doesn't matter how it's going to be. Whatever we decide it'll be great."
As far as a dress goes, the dancer also added that she wants “the train to be as long as Hollywood Boulevard.”
Hopefully with less bum urine and discarded condoms.
“It’s like, you only get to wear it once. I want it to be memorable. Like a princess.”
So I guess they just still need more time. The source adds that the couple “want to spend more time with one another. Especially while planning their wedding.”
And once they do tie the knot, it looks like Karina will be ready to start a family. “I can’t wait to be a mom,” Smirnoff told E! News. “I love kids. My manager has a beautiful boy who's my godson. He's in the terrible twos right now. The wonderful twos I must say. But I do want my own kids.”
"Obviously your significant other is always a baby to some respect," she joked. "A big one: a 6-foot-5 baby, but still a baby!"
I’d hate to change that diaper.
