Obama Says Kanye West Acted Like "Jackass" at the VMA's

Kanye West
It's official, the world agrees that Kanye West is a big jackass, even the President of the United States.

During an off-the-record chat with a CNBC reporter Barack Obama was asked what he thought about Kanye ruining Taylor Swift special moment at the MTV VMA's.

He jokingly said that Kanye acted like a "jackass" and the reporter quickly posted the comment on his Twitter page.

Of course the remark spread like wildfire on the internet, and the comment was asked to be removed by ABC and White House officials.

“In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview,” ABC said.

“That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.”

When the President calls you a "jackass" what hope is there for you to repair the damage you've caused? Kanye has already apologized on his blog for his rude behavior, but fans aren't budging. In fact, a lot of radio stations have already banned all his music.

Do you think Kanye is being punished too harshly for his actions at the VMA's, or is it a long time coming? Tell us your thoughts!

twinsmomof4, You are dead wrong! "off the record" comments are a valuable communication tool for both journalists and public figures. It is a professional trust. This idiot reporter blew it big time. It is a line you just do not cross over - EVER! It it is the same as attorney-client privilege. Attorneys who violate this trust can be disbarred.

"Off the record" means OFF OF THE RECORD. This reporter should be fired ASAP and blacklisted from any job reporting on the federal government for life.

I'm sorry, but how many incredibly stupid things did George W. Bush say while in office? Too many to count! Obama is entitled to his opinion, and he's right. At least he isn't an inarticulate fool!

no offense but the president needs to stay out of the entertainment industry and worry about the problems this country has..

Black Rage strikes again! Chris Brown, Serena Williams and then Kanye...sickening!

Hey, but maybe he'll respect being called a jackass by the president. I don't think he'll ever truly be sorry for what he did. I'm glad the radio stations are banning him. But really, I think he just sees it as more publicity.

Nobody should listen to his music for a a few months & stations SHOULD STOP playing his tracks - his ego reeeeally needs a smack.

I have just vinished watching the view, one of the guest was Taylor, Kenya I watch you on Jay Leno, I feel your regret will be more valuable if you finally contact Taylor and sit down and have a one on one. Are you waiting for her to get in touch with you. Micheal Jackson if I am correct was the first Black Artist to be given a venue on MTV. It made History, You made History by destroying the excited of A Young Country singer to be the first to be given that award. Now, why don't you be the first to go out of your way in a more sincere way and step it up by doing what's right. Why is it taking you so long to get in touch with this child. Stop, the interviews with others and have a one one with Taylor, with out the camera's and let her tell the world if she accepted the apology. That I am sure would make a mother proud. I know if you were my son it would make happy that you went to her.

hold up..dnt be tlkn bout Obama like that. Kanye was just being Kanye;;so wateva;;ppl are always blowing things out of proportion but i still love Kanye. He told yall he was arrogant.get over it;;yall iant taylor so it doesnt matter what yall say.
8:23AM 09/15/09 twinsmomof4
There is no "off the record" with reporters. If you feel the need to say off the record....keep it to yourself.
8:21AM 09/15/09 twinsmomof4
Kanye is trying to correct a wrong. Taylor handled the situation graciously. Beyonce handled the situation remarkably. I believe our President could have used other words. Perhaps "Kanyes behavior was inappropriate and he needs to apologize" or "What he did was wrong and he needs to make it right by saying he was sorry" and he has. Stars need to realize that it is better to have no publicity than to have negative publicity like this. Shame on VMA if this was one of there stunts to attract attention to VMA.
8:18AM 09/15/09 othfan
i cant believe that kayne west did that to Taylor Swift how would he like it if somebody did that to him. I bet he would get all mad!!!! :(

I think the radio stations banning his music are doing the right thing. The President was right and should own his comment. Kanye acted like a jackass and is getting his just desserts. Seriously, this guy just needs to go away. His music is contrived BS, usually remastered from an older artist's base line. How many of these damn "pop-rappers" are going to re-use Queen's base line from Under Pressure?

It may have been inappropriate to divulge what the pres said because it was "off the record". However, it was spot on. I think KW should be banned from all awards shows for at least 1 yr. Boy needs some serious therapy.
7:45AM 09/15/09 yankees21
Ani is a dumb bitch! No one is banning his music stupid whore!
6:29AM 09/15/09 annieseyes2
wait maybe you should have him over for a beer Mr. President. That was your answer for another news item that you should have never stuck your nose into.
