News of the
Rihanna and Chris Brown incident is affecting everyone including Rihanna's good friend
Kanye West. Kanye spoke to Ryan Seacrest this morning on his KIIS FM morning show where he chimed in on the
tragedy.
The singer mentioned that he saw both Rihanna and
Chris Brown at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party. Kanye said he knows Rihanna “a bit better“ because the two went on tour together. “We really vibed out on a lot of creative ideas” and went on to mention how he mentored her on tour by recommending music to her.
Kanye went on to say how important Rihanna is to music. “I really felt and feel that Rihanna is so important to our culture and pop music.” He adds, “for her taste level at her age, her song level, her style she has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time.”
In regards to his thoughts on Chris Brown assaulting Rihanna he said, “In that sense I feel like that’s my baby sis and I would do anything to help her….I was completely devastated by the concept that I heard.”
Kanye said he found out about the news at the Grammy’s prior to performing “American Boy” with Estelle on stage. “I was doing American boy, I was completely devastated doing the performance,” Kanye told Ryan.
When Ryan pressed if Kanye reached out to Rihanna the singer said, “I don’t want to speak more into specifics, with that situation but all I am going to say is that it’s just so devastating …I feel like just as a person...That should never happen, it should never come to that place.”
Hearing what Kanye has to say there is no doubt that all eyes are now on Jay Z. After all it was Jay Z who signed Rihanna when he was President of Def Jam.
