Kanye Tells His Audience To Open Their Minds

August 07, 2008

Kanye landed in NYC last night, playing his Glow In The Dark tour show at MSG again. During the show, he decided to teach his audience a life lesson. It went a little something like this:

"Open your fucking minds. Open your minds. Be accepting of different people and let people be who they are. You know how many people came to me calling me gay cause I wear my jeans the fresh way? Or because I said hey, dude, how you gonna say 'fag' right in front of a gay dude's face and act like that's ok. That shit is disrespectful. Coming from Chicago, where if you saw somebody that was gay you were supposed to stay ten feet away. It should be time to break out of the intuitions that I was sayin', the steretypes, or the fear, the backlash that I would get if you don't believe in what I believe in, acceptin' people for who they are…they're very talented and if they do something special in the world and they're discriminated. I've flown across the world y'all, and I've come back here to tell you — open your minds and live a happier life…"

What do you think? Is it necessary to provide commentary about life to your audience who probably paid through the roof for their ticket? Or is Kanye making a difference with his speech?

people who love Kanye love him for what he is. I support the so called "rant" because he is doing what he has always done. Staying true to his heart, and saying what he feels. Go Kanye. Looking forward to that homecoming album. . .

I went to the show on Tuesday, August 5th and he blew it out the water ... and honestly one of the best parts was at the end when he did this rant about opening peoples minds ... he was so passionate about it and so in the zone ... the vibe was sick and he was soooo right ... love Kanye, he is brilliant!

It sounds like kayne is either 1) trying to come out (which is most unlikely his lyrics are still talking about girls girls girls girls, but hey that could be the disguise) or 2) (the real explantaion) trying to appeal to the gay audience which lets face it is growing everyday. Kayne wants to make money which is fine and trying to captivate the gays attention by alerting them to the fact that he's not a homophobic person like some other rappers is the obvious way for him to do that. But while some may think it's conflicting for him to be hollering 'Jesus' name in his songs then trying to make himself look gay friendly, he's actually doing the right thing. Jesus said spread love, love thy neighbour as yourself even if they are gay or different in any way and him combatting the stereotypes, daring to be different and not conforming to some of his friends ways in the music industry, is in fact him doing exactly what God would want him to do.
