Justin Timberlake may have millions of fans worldwide, but L.A. County Superior Court Judge David Cunningham isn't one of them. The judge impressed by JT and his celebrity status and has ordered him to show up to court in person to testify against a crazy fan.
Cunningham just told Justin's lawyer that if he wants to make his
restraining order against Karen McNeil permanent, he has to personally testify.
"The problem you have is the burden of proof. You need to get Timberlake here," L.A. County Superior Court Judge David Cunningham said on Monday.
"Given the elements that are necessary you're going to have to produce him... even people who are famous have to appear... Nicole Richie will be here next week."
Justin filed and was granted a temporary restraining order against 48-year-old Karen McNeil, who has been stalking him since June. But if he wants to make it official, he has to show up to court in person.
Justin's camp on the other hand have argued that JT is super busy and his schedule won't permit him to make a personal appearance. They also argued that Karen will "accomplish" what she's wanted for years if he shows up---personal contact.
"Mr. Timberlake has never had direct contact with her," his team said. "She will be accomplishing what she's wanted over the years; direct contact with my client."
UPDATE:
Justin Timberlake didn't show to court this afternoon but he still got the permanent restraining order he was after.
Karen McNeil was ordered to stay 100 yards away from JT, his home and his vehicle, reports TMZ.
