It sounds counterproductive, but with some relationships, the best thing you can do to stay together is to grow apart for a little while.
Sometimes your partner’s cute little quirks get less endearing, and suddenly popping his jaw when he chews just isn’t as adorable. That’s when a little time apart might do you some good.
For some couples, sex with other people also helps. David Arquette and Courteney Cox have been separated for months now, and while they haven’t officially reunited, they remain friends and seem to be on the road to recovery (please guys, work it out).
Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake called it quits back in March. Men everywhere rejoiced, slicked their hair back, and sprayed their mouths with Binaca. But sorry guys, it looks like Jessica might be back off the market. The two have been seen together in recent weeks, and on Sunday, they went for a brunch and bike ride in Toronto.
“They were in good spirits,” an eyewitness said. “They seemed happy. They had brunch together. They were talking. They enjoyed their food. They had a nice time.”
But don’t expect Justin to make any official announcements, he keeps that part of his life super guarded. Back in June, he told Vanity Fair, “In my 30 years, she is the most special person, O.K.? … I don’t want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me—for instance, her.”
Awwwww. That would be so adorable if Justin Timberlake didn’t seem like a total tool. While these two may or may not be back together, there’s definitely hope for them to make it for the long haul.
Pink and Carey Hart married in 2006, and when the road got rocky, they separated in 2008 and began the divorce process. But only a year later, they rekindled their romance and never finalized the divorce. They also got marriage counseling, and Hart got Pink’s face tatted on his leg. So you know it’s serious. Oh yeah, and they had a baby.
Poor Brian Austin Green. He thought he won the lottery and locked down Megan Fox, one of the hottest women in Hollywood. They were engaged in 2006, but three years later, they still weren’t married. I mean, if engagements had expiration dates, theirs would say “best if married before 2009.” But they didn’t, and they split instead. But the couple got back together and tied the knot in 2010.
After his split from Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minillo started dating in 2006. They were together for three years, until they announced their separation in June 2009. Apparently, the couple just needed a few months apart. Because not long after, they got back together. And the rest is history. History that will probably be rerun on TLC for a while.
