Justin Timberlake. biography
Justin Randall Timberlake was born on January 31, 1981, in Memphis, Tennessee and first began performing on The New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1995 alongside Britney Spears, former N*SYNC band-mate JC Chasez and Christina Aguilera.
Soon after, Justin and Chasez teamed up with Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone to form the boy-band N*SYNC. The group dominated the pop world throughout the 1990s with their hit albums No Strings Attached (2000) and Celebrity (2001).
Ensuing his success in the pop group, Justin reared his focus on his solo career with his first hit single “Like I Love You,” followed by his debut album Justified in which sold around 7 million records. In 2004, Justin won two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
Aside from his solo career success, Justin has collaborated with Snoop Dogg, Nelly Furtado and Nelly, created his own record company, JayTee Records (2005), and earned a Grammy nomination with his work on the Black Eyed Peas’ hit single “Where Is The Love?”
In 2006, Justin released his second album FutureSex/LoveSounds along with the hit single “Sexy Back,” both of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Justin then performed and co-wrote Madonna’s single “4 Minutes” and collaborated on the majority of tracks on Madonna’s album Hard Candy (2008).
Also during this time, Justin ventured into the art of acting, landing mildly successful roles in Alpha Dog (2006) Black Snake Moan (2006) and in the animated film Shrek the Third (2007), as the voice of Prince Artie. Despite critics’ disapproval, Justin continued his acting pursuit and appeared in Mike Myers’ comedy The Love Guru (2008), the comedy-drama The Open Road (2009) alongside Jeff Bridges.
The following years, Justin continued putting memorable performances in such films as the bio-pic The Social Network (2010), the romantic comedy Friends with Benefits (2011) opposite Mila Kunis, the comedy Bad Teacher (2011) with Cameron Diaz, and the drama Trouble with the Curve (2012) starring Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams.
Justin's most recent projects include the Coen brother’s drama Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), the drama thriller Runner, Runner (2013) alongside Ben Affleck, and the comedy The Last Drop (release date unknown).
Aside from film, Justin’s third studio album The 20/20 Experience (2013) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 968,000 copies, which features the hit singles “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors.” He is also heavily featured on Jay Z’s 2013 album Magana Carta Holy Grail.
Is Justin Timberlake Gay?
Speculation that Justin Timberlake is gay began swirling around Hollywood after former N*SYNC member Lance Bass commented on his band-mates’ sexuality in GQ’s 2007 November issue.
“When we were in the group, we thought Justin was gay, because he told us he wanted to do a gay part in a movie.”
When Amanda Seyfried was bombarded with speculation of a romance with Justin in Glamour’s 2012 March issue, she admittedly denounced the baseless rumors and somewhat suggested that JT is more of a gay husband than a lover: “Oh, I think any female that meets him at first is like, ‘I want to date you.’ He seems so perfect, but you get to know him, and he’s a good pal.”
Many assume Justin is gay based on his gay following and being a gay advocate but he has never admitted to the rumor. Justin does not hold back when it comes to LGBT rights and has no problem discussing the sensitive subject even though he himself has been thrown into the mix. In an interview promoting his new movie Friends with Benefits with Between The Lines News, Justin is asked if he has gay friends in his life similar to that of Woody Harrelson’s character, in which he responds:
“I'm glad that you brought that up. That was very important to Will (Gluck) and myself when we were diagramming that relationship, because I do have a lot of male friends - straight and gay - and nobody gets treated differently. Your friends are your friends. We had a lot of discussions about that and said, "What a great opportunity to break ridiculous stereotypes about a gay male and show a great, honest relationship between a straight man and a gay man that's just a friendship between two men." I really hope that it feels empowering to the males in the gay community, because it's real life for me . . . I think it's an important time to say that people are people, and this was a good opportunity to do that.”
Rumors of his sexuality continue to spread despite the fact that he has dated some of the hottest celebrities, including Britney Spears and Cameron Diaz, and recently tied the knot with actress Jessica Biel on October 19, 2012 in Fasano, Italy.
