The new trend in singing competition shows is to throw as many famous faces into one episode as possible so that nobody even cares about the singers anymore. That’s obviously what’s happening over at “The X Factor” who just announced that Marc Anthony will serve as the mentor to Simon Cowell on the talent show.
Basically, the mentors help the judges choose who the finalists should be. Because the judges, the industry veterans that they are, need help picking singers even though American Idol has been managing without “mentors” for the past 10 years.
The only judge without a mentor is Britney Spears, but how do you top the Princess of Pop? Obviously the only choice for a mentor is Lady Gaga or Madonna, but on the real, it will probably end up being Gloria Estefan or Mary J. Blige, I don’t even know.
It’s rumored that Simon will be in charge of the groups, LA Reid is mentoring the over-25’s, but it’s unsure if Britney or Demi will mentor the boys or girls.
