Angry gerbil Justin Bieber is up in paws again. Following a string of bad press that just won't quit—from roving the cold British streets like a shirtless banshee a couple weeks ago to spitting on his neighbor, because he told him to put his toys (Ferrari) away yesterday—the singer is finally responding to all the negativity.

How you ask?

With his drug of choice: positivity, of course!

In his first interview amidst the meltdown reports surrounding his life, Justin told Us Weekly: "I know who I am and I'm not gonna let negativity towards me bring me down. I'm a positive person and I plan on staying that way." Then Justin casually brushed his shoulder, because there was a h8er sitting on it.

"This business can break you down, but I have a strong team around me, and my family and all the fans. The love overcomes the negativity. I'm not perfect but I'm growing and trying to be better everyday. That's part of life." Then his iPhone beeped with an incoming piece of hate mail with the subject line: "PUT A SHIRT ON UR SO EMBARRASSING!" which he immediately filtered to his spam folder.

While he didn't address those fresh assault charges, Justin did defend his most controversial action during this whole breakdown: wearing that attention-seeking gas mask to deflect the paparazzi's attention.

Illogical strategy aside, turns out we just didn't get that it's "a joke with my friends," Justin said. "I wanted to hide my face from all the cameras. They got it as a joke. My friends and I like messing around." Oh, okay, we were supposed to be laughing with him, not at him, we get it now. Ultimately, showing up hours late to a concert and reckless driving aside, Justin sums it all up with every 19-year-old's favorite excuse in the book: being 19-years-old.

"I'm young and I make mistakes. That's part of growing up. I mess up sometimes. It's part of growing up," he said, as we all pet his poor little hamster head and put him back in his cage.
