In a surprising turn of events, apparently not everyone loves Justin Bieber as much as his 31 million Twitter followers. Some folks actually hate him. Namely, his home country.
Canada welcomed the boy wonder back home not with open arms, but instead with stadium jeers and monotone hate. During a performance and appearance at the Grey Cup Championship of the Canadian Football League in Toronto, the Biebs was booed…a lot.
According to the Associated Press, Justin was booed during two occasions: once when his face appeared on the JumboTron screen, and again throughout his entire performance of “Boyfriend.”
The general consensus from the game day goers seemed to be: “Who the hell invited a pop music act to play at during a football game in the first place?”
“J-Biebs doesn't scream football, you know? Neither does Carly Rae Jepsen," one viewer commented.
A YouTube video of the booing confirms the anti-fan hate. Not that Justin seemed to notice…
"Thank you so much Canada," Bieber obliviously announced. "I love you."
In Justin’s defense, the people who booed him were attending a Canadian football game. This has about as much career-damaging impact as Jay-Z getting shunned from a professional bowling tournament—in other words, not much…
Also, the fans are probably just upset that they are stuck watching a second-rate football league as opposed to their Maple Leafs while the NHL remains in lockout going into the 2012-2013 season.
The incident comes after Justin’s much talked about public party foul when he showed up in overalls to receive the Diamond Jubilee Medal from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
