There’s a new sheriff in town, and he ain’t even 19 yet…
Justin Bieber, the man-boy known for breaking records and hearts, has done the impossible, earning more Twitter followers than Lady Gaga. Or, as some outlets are reporting, Bieber has dethroned the previous reigning champ.
On Monday night, Justin soared past the 33,333,000 follower mark. Gaga was left behind, still under 33,329,000. From there Justin’s lead only got bigger. Today, those numbers have dropped to: Bieber at 33,328,636; and Gaga at 33,327,997.
To give you some perspective, 33 million is roughly the population of Justin’s home country, Canada.
The landmark win comes after Beliebers beat out the Little Monster clan at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, crowning their leader with the “Top Social Artist” honor. Also nominated in the category were Eminem, Shakira and Rihanna.
A distant number three on the list is Katy Perry, who currently has just under 31.5 million followers. President Obama holds the number five spot with just over 26 million subscribers…
Neither Biebs nor Gaga have yet to comment on the development to their followers. Justin’s last tweet was about a shoot he did for Teen Vogue and Gaga’s last post was thanking the audiences at her sold out Los Angeles performances.
