Julianne Hough Opens Up About Childhood Abuse

The name “Julianne Hough” is being blasted all over the Internet today. The Dancing With the Stars veteran has opened up in the new issue of Cosmopolitan about ongoing abuse she suffered as a child.

In a section of the one-on-one titled “A Secret Past,” Julianne opens up about the dark spot in her rearview.

“I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer,” she says.

According to the 24-year-old beauty, the abuse occurred while she was studying dance at London’s Italia Conti Academy of the Arts.

“While I was in London, I was abused, mentally, physically, everything,” she continues. “I'm a very forgiving person, and I don't want to hurt anybody. What's past is past.”

The dancer-turned-actress understandably declines to go into detail about what went on, but she did explain that the problems only escalated over time.

She explains that it got worse “when I started hitting puberty, when I started becoming a woman and stopped being a little girl.”

“I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life,” she said. “But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love.”

But it’s not all doom and gloom in the tell-all interview. Julianne remains positive about the future and—as the writer gushes in true romance novel form—glows as she talks about home life with her longtime partner Ryan Seacrest.

The Cosmo issue featuring Julianne’s revealing interview hits newsstands January 8.
