Julia Roberts. biography
Born on October 28, 1967, in Smyrna, Georgia, Julia Fiona Roberts was raised in a house of creativity with her parents, both actors, providing workshops for aspiring entertainers. After ditching her dream of becoming a veterinarian, Julia moved to New York City alongside her broth Eric, also an actor, to pursue an acting career in 1985.
Julia made her acting debut with a guest appearance in the TV series Crime Story (1987), but first caught the attention of Hollywood and moviegoers when she assumed the role of Daisy in Mystic Pizza (1988). But it would be her performance in Steel Magnolias (1989) that would officially put her on the map as an up-and-coming actress.
A year later, Julia got her big break when she played a hooker who falls in love with a client in Pretty Woman (1990) opposite Richard Gere, a performance that resulted in her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy as well as an Oscar nomination in the same category.
Despite starring in the box office plunders Dying Young (1991) and Hook (1991), Julia bounced back with a more challenging role next to Denzel Washington in The Pelican Brief (1993).

Julia finally received the praise she had been working so hard for when she won her first Oscar for Best Actress in part of her critically praised portrayal of a poor single mother turned legal assistant in the biopic drama Erin Brockovich (2000).
In 2001, Julia starred opposite Brad Pitt in the lackluster film The Mexican, followed by Catherine Zeta-Jones in America’s Sweethearts and George Clooney in Ocean’s Eleven. George and Julia later reunited in the biopic comedy Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) and Ocean’s Twelve (2004).
Also during this time, Julia starred as a liberal art professor in the award-winning drama Mona Lisa Smile (2003) prior to earning a Golden Globe nomination (Best Supporting Actress) for her performance as Joanne Herring in the biopic dramedy Charlie Wilson’s War (2007). She was again nominated for a Golden Globe (Best Actress in a Comedy) stemming from her role as a spy in the romantic thriller Duplicity (2009).
From 2010 to 2012, Julia assumed her leading lady role in Valentine’s Day (2010), Eat Pray Love (2011), Larry Crowne (2011), and Mirror Mirror (2012).
