Word to wise: If you're the sensitive type, don't talk to
Josh Brolin. He might jokingly call you an asshole and slam you in front of a room full of people.
On Monday night at the New York Film Critics Awards dinner, at which Brolin won Best Supporting Actor for his work in the drama, “Milk,” Brolin stole the show with his vulgar comments about his "American Gangster" co-star
Russell Crowe.
After
Sean Penn introduced him, Brolin said, “Quite an actor, Sean Penn. And not an asshole like Russell Crowe.” He then repeated: “Like Russell Crowe.”
Realizing he shouldn't have joked like that about a respected actor, Brolin later blamed it on the booze. He admitted to the film critics audience that he'd been drinking earlier that night. Everyone’s always blaming the booze.
Brolin made it out to the Palm Springs Film festival on Tuesday night where good pal Sean Penn was being honored with the 'Desert Palm Achievement Award'. After making headlines for his comments the night before, Brolin was on his best behavior last night.
When asked about the Crowe comment, Brolin told reporters, "It was the ambiance of the room. I love him. I think he’s amazing. He’s a friend. I was bummed out when I saw that today."
So was it the "booze" or the "ambiance of the room"? We're confused. Maybe Brolin should stick to sober free awards dinners from now on. Or not. We always love a good celebrity feud.
