Jordin Sparks Defends Purity Rings

Russell Brand
was the host of the VMAs this year and he made some funny jokes, but it seems like there were some that also offended people. Russell picked on purity rings and the Jonas Brothers and that joke didn’t seem to go so well with some people in the audience.

When Jordin Sparks hit the stage to introduce T.I.’s performance, she took the time to speak out against Brand’s joke.

"I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It's not bad to wear a promise ring," Sparks said, "because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut."

Good job Jordin!

Jordin got a loud cheer from the crowd and seemed to be relieved. She must have been offended because she too wears a purity ring. It must have been pretty bad if Brand came back on stage later on and apologized for his comments.

"I didn't meant to take it lightly," the host said. "I don't want to piss off teenage fans." He then joked, "Promise rings, I'm well up for it. [But] a bit of sex, it never hurt anybody."

Do you guys think Russell went too far with his jokes, or did he make you laugh?
