Johnny Depp Almost Died In A Plane Crash

Let’s start Halloween off with a terrifying story, shall we?

In an interview with LIVE magazine, Johnny Depp revealed that he almost died while on a private jet en route to Los Angeles. Oh, I should mention that Depp’s new movie, The Rum Diary, is currently out in theaters. It’s so weird how crazy things happen to celebs when they have new movies out!

Depp was on the plane with Rum Diary director Bruce Robinson when the engines failed and the pair believed they were going down.

“The plane just shut down,” Depp explained. “The sound of the engines stopped. There was silence. Bruce and I were looking at each other and I think I said, ‘Is this it?’ It was like this weird extended moment when you’re just floating for a second and you could feel this unpleasant descent,” Johnny said.

Did I mention that The Rum Diary is currently out in theaters?

Depp continued:

“Nobody said a word except for Bruce and I, sitting next to each other saying, ‘Oh sh-t! This is death; I guess this is how it goes down.’ Then we burst into hysterical laughter at the idea that this was how we were going to die.”

The Rum Diary chronicles the story of a journalist who travels to Puerto Rico and runs into a series of sometimes dangerous adventures. Kind of like crashing in a private jet.

Depp says that he and director Bruce Robinson breathed a sigh of relief when the engines started back up again.

“Suddenly the engines started back up again and we were climbing back up. I guess you could say that was a big bonding experience for Bruce and me. For a moment there, we were going down together,” he said.

I bet it is a great way to bond, but going to brunch or hanging out on a double date sounds a lot easier. Thank god Johnny Depp and Bruce Robinson got out okay, just in time to finish The Rum Diary, which is currently out in theaters.

Amber Heard stars as Depp’s love interest in the film, and she was so impressed with the cast and director, she said “there was no reason not to take this project.”

“With this film I was swimming in a bay in Puerto Rico holding on to a fishing boat with Johnny Depp in it," Heard explained. "In another scene, I got lost in beautiful music with very sweaty Puerto Rican dancers. I forgot I was making a movie, I was having so much fun."
