After nearly six months of rumors that Johnny Depp and his longtime partner Vanessa Paradis have called it quits, the enigmatic actor and his actress/singer/French girlfriend have just released a statement, that yes, they have ended their nearly 14 year romance.
The couple confirmed the split in a statement to ET from Depp's publicist, “Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”
We reached out to Depp's rep and received the same confirmation.
Back in January, the two were rumored to have split. A “source” told People that the relationship was over. Now we have the actual confirmation that these two are dunzo.
The two are parents to Lily-Rose, 12, and 9-year-old Jack.
Just last year, Paradis revealed the secret to their relationship success saying:
"The fact that we're not together every day plays a big part in keeping our relationship stable.”
Or not? Looks like that didn’t really work in their favor.
This couple was dodging the rumors for a while. Several weeks after the first split rumor came forward, Vanessa Paradis did an interview in French saying the rumors were “false.”
Well, mostly she skirted the issue and said some stuff in French that didn’t translate really well.
Anyway, it’s sad to hear these long time couple called it quits but at least they have two beautiful children together. If buying an island, hiding from paparazzi and shacking up in France can’t save a relationship, then I don’t know what will!
