“Parks and Recreation” star Rashida Jones came out of relative comedy obscurity yesterday when she made a gay joke about John Travolta.
I mean, everyone makes comments about John Travolta being gay, it’s trendy to do so, but Rashida’s comment was taken way out of context and propelled the under-the-radar actress into a tabloid target.
She did an interview with SpinningPlatters.com about her new movie “Celeste and Jesse Forever” and for some reason the talk turned to celebrities who are gay.
For whatever reason Rashida said it’s about time a big movie star came out of the closet.
“A movie star. Like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let’s do this,” says Rashida.
Anyways, outing someone you don’t know is kind of a no-go, so she apologized on where else…Twitter.
Made a thoughtless comment about John Travolta.I sincerely apologize.Nobody's personal life is my business.— Rashida Jones (@iamrashidajones) August 14, 2012
A lot of fans tweeted at Rashida saying she was just “saying what everyone already knew” and it’s okay that she “spoke her mind.” But it’s nice that Rashida apologized.
In the same interview Rashida also applauded Frank Ocean for coming out of the closet. I guess Rashida is just a super fan of people coming out of the closet.
