David Letterman Slams McCain

Republican presidential nominee John McCain had a big "oops" day on Wednesday. McCain was scheduled to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman, but canceled his appearance because he was "rushing to the airport to get back to Washington."

Only problem was he was actually just a few blocks away, at the CBS News headquarters where he was preparing for a last-minute interview with Katie Couric. Needless to say, that didn't go over too well with Letterman.

Letterman showed a clip of McCain getting his makeup touched up before his interview with CBS. “He doesn’t seem to be racing to the airport, does he?” he asked the audience. “Hey, John, I got a question! You need a ride to the airport?”

Letterman also gave him a hard time about putting his campaign on hold in order to "focus" on the economy. “You don’t suspend your campaign. Do you suspend your campaign? No, because that makes me think, well, you know, maybe there will be other things down the road –- if he’s in the White House, he might just suspend being president," said Letterman. "I mean, we’ve got a guy like that now!”
