John Mayer: 'I Don't Have A Girlfriend'

Despite the recent rumors that he's hooking up with a former Hooters waitress/aspiring actress, John Mayer insists he's 100% single.

“If I had a girlfriend, she would be incredibly offended by me saying, ‘I don’t have a girlfriend,’” John told X17Online.com photogs after his workout in Santa Monica over the weekend.

“That’s how you can be sure. I could say, ‘I’m not with anybody.’ That’d be a death wish if you were the woman.”

Adding, “If you were the woman and you stepped out and said, ‘I’m not with anybody, you’d have to go home and take a lashing for the next three weeks! So that’s the proof.”

There were reports last week that Mayer was dating Scheana Marie Jancan, a former Hooters waitress, that he met while she was cocktailing at the Grand Havana Room in Beverly Hills.

Sounds like Scheana got a whole lot of free press for nothing. It makes you wonder who spreads these stories to the tabloids? Expect to see Scheana on the next cover of a tabloid magazine next time you're at the grocery store.
