Joel Madden to DJ the Oscars

Talk about a sweet gig! Joel Madden has been hired to DJ the biggest night in Hollywood—The Academy Awards! Producer Adam Shankman broke the news to People, saying they wanted to loosen up the usually-uptight show a little bit.

"We're friends and I asked him," Shankman said. "I wanted there to be a party atmosphere and I wanted to make sure everyone in the room was having a great time. He's one of the best, and knows most everyone there."

Joel seems ecstatic about the big gig, tweeting today, "Guess who is Dj'in the Oscars. Me. Yes i will put on a bow tie of some sort."

He continued, "Thank you [Oscars coproducer] @adammshankman for making me a part of the show. I've never been to the Academy awards before. Gawrsh!"

How exciting! We wonder what else Shankman has up his sleeve for this year’s show!

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, March 7, and televised live on ABC beginning at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET.
