Joel Madden may be a doting father now, but that doesn't mean he's forgotten how to get a good party started. New dad and [hopefully] groom-to-be Joel teamed up with Sportie LA, Fila and 3M to throw quite the party in the Hollywood Hills to launch their new Special Edition Melrose shoe.
Madden came decked out in Fila gear, from his sneakers to his hoodie, while girlfriend
Nicole Richie wore a long green dress and her trademark headband.
Madden told Hollyscoop that although he may not be the trendsetter in the family, it's what's inside that counts. "I love my family and that transcends maybe my lack of style, or anything else I might lack," he said.
"I think people like to see dads who are involved and who love their kids. I don't really know how to be a dad – I don't really know anything about it – but I love my daughter and I do the best I can."
It seems like it was just
yesterday when news
of their baby made headlines, but she's approaching her first birthday soon. So now that she's developing some character, we wanted to know what's the cutest thing little Harlow has done. "She does calculus now," he joked. "She does it on an abacus, she's pretty advanced in chemistry as well."
Considering the fact that Joel literally lights up when he talks about his little girl, should we expect another baby from the couple? "Eventually, I don't have any plans for it. But you know, if they're all like her then hell yeah!"
Any preference for a boy or a girl? "If they're healthy and happy like her, anything," Joel told Hollyscoop.
With the New Year right around the corner, Joel confessed that he's going to be more involved with the Richie Madden Foundation. "I've been getting really involved in things going on in Africa and with the
Richie Madden Children’s Foundation and I'd like to spend even more time doing that, trying to be a part of the solution."
With two celebrity parents, it must be difficult to schedule time together as a family but Joel insists that he has a "really understanding partner," and that they "work as a family and work as a team and figure it out."
Maybe that's why they've lasted longer than half the couples in Hollywood. We'll still be keeping our eyes open for a bump...or the wedding. Whatever comes first.
