Report: Nick Jonas & Pharrell Williams In Talks For 'American Idol'

Now that Mariah Carey is confirmed, the world continues to wonder, who is fit to fill the one, maybe two remaining seats on “American Idol?”

Two very serious possibilities (a.k.a.: names being thrown around this week) seem to be Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams.
Us Weekly has the details.

An insider told the mag that the teen fave Jonas brother has an opening in his schedule, and his addition to their line-up could be beneficial in bringing a younger audience to the show.

"Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge," the source said. "They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings."

And supposedly Pharrell - the singer/hit producer for industry powerhouses Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Gwen Stefani - is already in the contract negotiation stage.
"Everything is looking good, but they're still working out details," another insider told Us.

FOX had no comment on any of this. But if we assume it is indeed true, it clears up a couple of other rumors.

One, Randy Jackson, despite denying the whole thing, is indeed going to leave the table in lieu of becoming a mentor (still no idea what that means, it's not like this is “The Voice,” right?).

Two, Sharon Osbourne will not be joining the show. And thank goodness. I mean there’s enough of her on TV.

But don’t worry people, whatever happens, we’ll always have Ryan Seacrest. Always.
