What’s that you say? You want another talent seeking show? Alrighty then…
Joe Jonas is gearing up for his mentoring role on the new talent search series “The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep.” The Disney star will play counselor alongside Gloria Estefan, John Rich, and Nelly.
“The series is a music talent show, and I’m really excited about it,” the Jonas told Ryan Seacrest via a call-in to “On Air With Ryan Seacrest.”
In the show, the celeb mentors will move in with local acts and aspiring singers down on their luck and immerse themselves in their lives for 72 hours. The goal is to spend time understanding where the performers are coming from, as well as prep them for an upcoming audition.
“The judges will be going to different cities in the states,” said Joe. “These artists are going to be either people that had a chance in the past, maybe they possibly got dropped from a record label.”
Each aspiring star will be paired with a judge in their category… In Joe’s case, he will be teaming up with pop singers.
Joe also made an appearance as a judge on Monday night’s Miss USA Pageant. The evening’s ceremony named Miss Rhode Island the champ after slam-dunking a tough question about transgender contestants. Even Joe was impressed.
“That was a really tough question," he said. “The way she went over it so well, for me that is what won me over, her great answer.”
In addition to “The Next,” Joe will make appearances on the new Fox celebrity blind dating series “The Choice” that premieres on June 7, and on his brother Kevin’s new reality series “Married to Jonas” on E!
“The Next” is set to air on the CW in August.
