Joaquin Phoenix is giving new meaning to the term 'dazed and confused'. The actor showed up the Late Show with David Letterman last night to talk about his new rap career and why Joaquin himself couldn't be there.
When David asked why he chose to leave acting Joaquin answered: “I don’t know.”
"You’ve given it a lot of thought then?" responded the host.
"It wasn’t like dissatisfaction with the industry," he said. "I used to read scripts and had this overwhelming desire to experience it and see it come to life. Most recently, when I read scripts, all I could think about was somebody putting make-up on my f**king face and touching me."
Joaquin then explained that he wants to pursue a hip hop career, which got the audience laughing. He got visibly upset and asked Letterman, "What do you have them on? What do you gas them up with."
He then took his chewing gum out of his mouth and put it under Letterman's desk.
By the end of the interview Letterman had clearly had enough of his difficult guest. David turned to him and said, "Joaquin Phoenix, I’m sorry you couldn’t be with us tonight."
When we first heard about his "rap career" we thought it was just a PR stunt, but at this point he's not only ruining his career, he's tarnishing his reputation.
