Her name is Joanna Pacitti, a 24-year old from the Louisville, Kentucky audition round, who blew the judges away with her version of Pat Benatar’s We Belong Together.
But this isn’t Joanna’s first rodeo. She’s been singing from a very young age. At 11, we was cast as the lead in the Broadway production of Annie, and at 16, as signed to A&M Records, and has had songs on the Legally Blonde soundtrack, First Daughter, and the Bratz movie. Her song Out From Under was even covered by Britney Spears, and is on her current Circus album!
Sounding like Joanna is already a pro? Well that’s what a lot of people are saying. And rumor has it Joanna is friends with someone at 19 Entertainment, the company behind Idol.
According to an interview she gave to Philly magazine in 2006, she is also friends with Fergie, who appeared on last season's Idol Gives Back special. She also used to date Mark Ballas from Dancing With the Stars. That’s just one too many connections for an “unknown.”
Joanna’s not the first contestant to have a failed record contract. In fact, it’s a lot more common than people think! But do her connections make her more of a shoe-in for the competition? We think the judges, especially Simon, are always fair, and treat each contestant equally. So should Joanna stay in it, or be disqualified for too much experience coming into it?
