This is where your career takes you when you bang Ben Affleck.
Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 2012 Emmy Awards, and it will be his first time hosting. Jimmy will be under the direction of Don Mischer, who directed the Oscars and will serve as executive producer of the Emmys.
“I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars,” Kimmel joked. To jog your memory, Murphy pulled out as host of this year’s Oscars.
Jimmy’s late night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is in its 10th season on ABC. He serves as executive producer of his show, too.
Since this is his first time hosting the Emmys, exactly what kind of awards show hosting experience does he have? Well, Jimmy has previously hosted the American Music Awards and the ESPY Awards, and he’s also set to host the White House Correspondents’ dinner next month.
So yeah, he probably won’t screw this up.
This is Mischer’s 12th time ‘round, and he says he’s “thrilled” to produce the Emmys again.
“We love television and look forward to working with the television academy and ABC in creating a show that is fast-paced, humorous, unpredictable, and at times irreverent, but clearly celebratory of our incredible industry.”
The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place September 23 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Jimmy Tweeted that he’ll do his best to “try not to embarrass us.”
