“Big Bang Theory,” the long running CBS hit three-camera sitcom, jumped on the Carly Rae Jepsen bandwagon, performing an impromptu flash mob of her hit “Call Me Maybe.”
Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Howard (Simon Helberg), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Amy (Mayim Bialik), and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) gather around their six seasons old Pasadena apartment living room.
Action is called, and the first notes of the demonically catchy summer single play out…
The cast looks around—confused at first—as the production team starts into an unexpectedly refined dance number. Soon the on screen nerds join their coworkers, turning the sound stage into a Broadway environment.
Meanwhile, showrunners Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Steve Molaro sit in video village watching the madness carry out on monitors—apparently, they were the only ones not in on the gag.
The higher ups soon join their in-studio audience, cheering and clapping along.
Staying in character, Parsons did not join the dance number, but instead added his subtle yet iconic "Bazinga!" to close the stunt out.
Per the standard for a “Call Me Maybe” parody video, it has already gone viral since it was published on Thursday, soaring to over 2 million views.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was Cuoco that came up with the idea. Her sister Bri Cuoco choreographed the dance.
