Jim Carrey To Jenny McCarthy: I Love Evan Very Much

It’s a face-off fit for MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch… In one corner… a comedy genius. In the other… a Playboy Playmate.

During an interview with shock-jock Howard Stern, Jim Carrey was thrown under the bus by ex-girlfriend Jenny McCarthy. The “Love in the Wild” host bashed the comedian for ignoring her autistic son Evan since the couple split.

A source spoke with Hollyscoop and shined some light on the other side of the argument.

“Jim and Jenny haven't been in contact since they broke up two years ago,” the source said. “This is the first time she is speaking out about Evan missing Jim.”

According to the source, the interview skewed the reality of the situation. Though the couple was together for five years, Carrey never adopted Evan, let alone married McCarthy. Jim loves Evan, but staying in contact would prove too “difficult and painful” in order to maintain a relationship with the boy.

Jenny took it a step further with Stern, saying that the split was so hard on her 10-year-old son that he is currently undergoing therapy with a counselor. In the interview, Jenny told Stern that she has made several attempts to contact Jim, claiming that Evan is asking about him on a weekly basis.

“I've tried to ask [Jim] numerous times [to see Evan], because my son still asks,” said McCarthy.

The source tells Hollyscoop that the couple has not been in contact since their breakup, stating that Carrey has been trying to move on. Additionally, the source believes the media is emphasizing the situation due to Evan’s autism and McCarthy is using it to promote her show.

“The comments made by Jenny during the interview seem to come at an interesting time,” the source said. “[If she wanted to speak with Jim] she could have very well contacted him directly.”

Carrey, who has remained relatively silent since the couple split two years ago, addressed McCarthy's claims with the following statement: “I will always do what I believe is in the best interest of Evan’s well being. It’s unfortunate that Evan’s privacy is not being considered. I love Evan very much and will miss him always.”

Aw, take that Jenny!
