Jessica Simpson is on a mission! She's finally coming back from the dark side and lightening up her hair, but as she explained to a reporter at the Cannes Film festival, it wasn't entirely her decision.
Simpson explained that she was lightening up for her role in her new film 'Major Movie Star'.
“I'm on my way to being blonde for the movie,” Simpson said of her in-between shade. She begins shooting for her new movie role on July 9.
So what encouraged her to leave her signature blonde locks in the first place? According to friends of Simpson, she went dark because her on-again off-again beau John Mayer preferred her hair darker.
“John told Jessica that she has to change,” says a source. “He didn’t want to be dating this ‘blonde bimbo.’”
Thankfully, she's come back from the dark side and admitted that she prefers life as a blonde.
Simpson told Us Weekly, “I think I do have a little bit more fun as a blonde. People take me a little too seriously when I'm a brunette. They think I'm trying to be dark and mysterious, when really I'm not.”
