Jessica Simpson's Unrealistic Goal

February 10, 2007

Jessica Simpson is just setting herself up for disappointment. She has set herself a challenge - to learn to speak fluent French in less than four months. She's convinced she'll pick up the language in no time if she puts her mind to it.

Simpson says, "I work best under pressure. So I've given myself until the end of May to be able to speak French like a natural.

"Think I can do it?"

OMG this girl has a totally unrealistic goal. Holland is right all the way. There are two ways she can possibly master a language perfectly in 4 months. One is if she's already super-gifted at foreign languages because she's a genius. So that's a no. The only other way would be to be totally and completely immersed in a french-speaking environment with french classes all day long. It's not gonna happen either ^^ So to summarize, elle n'y arrivera probablement jamais. Mais l'espoir fait vivre, non? ^^ Essaie donc Jessica. (Btw I'm french)

It would be a blessing for this skank to learn the difference between TUNA and CHICKEN! Learn French? She must mean French Fuckattack or something!

This woman is crazy. I've been living in France for 6 months now and I still don't speak French like a natural. And my French was fairly good to begin with! Maybe Jessica's just smarter than me? (Scary thought)

she should move to france and immerse herself in the culture. this way she will be forced to learn.

This is coming from a girl who can't tell the difference between tuna and chicken. Maybe in her own bubble.

I agree with Holland. If Jessica is looking to have conversation, she would need to be practicing constantly. Ordering food and asking for a restroom is probably more acheiveable for her...she does not have me convinced that she works best under pressure...remember the 9 to 5 performance in honor of Dolly?

That's not just unrealistic for Jessica, thats unrealistic for any american. English is a completely different language, while english has strong germanic influences (like German, Dutch, Danish, Flamish etc.) french falls into another catogory entierly with pronunciation and sentence structure, while spanish, italian, greec, portugees and french are kinda the same. In order to be truely fluent in frnech she would have to invest months of work and hours and hours of conversation to perfect it. It's not hard to order some food in french, but its entirely different to actually have a real conversation with some real substance.
