Fresh off the birth of her first daughter, Jessica Simpson has publicly vowed to recapture a version of her former physical self, and has been crowned the latest celebrity spokesperson for Weight Watchers.
Maxwell Drew, born earlier this month, was a healthy 9 lb 13 ounces, but as far as her own current weight goes, Simpson isn’t revealing specific numbers, just a desire for change.
In a statement that surely wasn’t coached by a PR person, Simpson tells People Magazine, “For me, I really want to do something that is a lifestyle, because in the past, I've been known to yo-yo diet."
The media definitely noticed the excess weight gain and commented on her struggles. Enter Weight Watchers. And though Simpson was in talks with the fat-girls-get-skinny empire before she got the happy news of her pending arrival, the post-baby body slim down will make for a greater challenge, and hopefully, success story.
Weight Watchers released a statement to Hollyscoop in celebration of their recent acquisition:
“We’re thrilled that Jessica Simpson has chosen to join Weight Watchers to adopt a healthier lifestyle and inspire others to do the same. Her talent, resilience and positive outlook already make her a great role model... Jessica has made clear her commitment to establishing a healthier lifestyle for herself and her family. We look forward to supporting Jessica as she embarks on this next chapter in her life.”
It’s to assume, judging from personal history and a prowess for turning herself into a brand that even if WW’s wasn’t involved, this chapter of Simpson’s life would be well documented. Stay tuned for the slim down.
